FREE: The 2017 Texas Author Series, sponsored by the Friends of the Abilene Public Library and the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council, will feature four Texas authors speaking at two library locations. The community is invited to participate in these free events.  In this session, the featured author will be Johnnie Lou Avery Boyd, discussing her book titled "MizHat: The Life Journey of Roy Helen Herndon Mingus Ackers."  Boyd has led an accomplished life and currently owns Avery Associates (consulting firm), which led her to being named by the U.S. Small Business Administration as an Outstanding Woman in Business. She has provided leadership to boards, commissions, and foundations and five Texas governors have appointed her to various boards. She will be on hand to discuss her biography on Roy Helen Herndon Mingus Ackers, being published March 2017. Each program lasts about an hour and copies of the authors' books will be available for purchase and signing. For sessions hosted at the Main Library, feel free to bring your lunch, or purchase one from the Friends at the event. For more information, contact us at 325-676-6025.
