The City of Abilene Parks and Recreation invites the community to Abilene Outdoor Adventures on Saturday, June 4 at Grover Nelson Park.  Families will have multiple opportunities to learn about outdoor recreational activities, environmental conservation, stewardship, and wellness in The Big Country.

Come test fishing skills and knowledge by participating in angler education and fishing for catfish; connect with nature through wildlife and plant education activities; test archery and air rifle skills, and so much more!

Abilene Outdoor Adventures will kick off with Keep Abilene Beautiful and Don’t Mess with Texas’ Trash and Treasure Hunt and park-wide clean-up starting at 8:00 A.M.  Remaining activities kick off at 9:30 A.M. and will conclude at 2:00 P.M.

Across the lake, the Abilene Zoo will be hosting its World Oceans Day to promote marine conservation and stewardship and highlight the Zoo’s aquatic exhibits.  Zoo admission fees will apply.

Abilene Outdoor Adventures is being sponsored by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, City of Abilene Parks and Recreation, Keep Abilene Beautiful, Big Country Texas Master Naturalists, and several other community groups.

There will be prizes, food, and best of all – the event and its activities are FREE!  Come out and experience some outdoor adventures!
