A.C.T. Community Meeting
The City of Abilene and Mayor Anthony Williams invite the public to attend the A.C.T. Community Meeting discussing the Abilene community’s response to crime at 6:30 PM on Monday, August 14th at the Abilene Convention Center.
This meeting will serve as the final step towards the communities Crime Reduction Plan. As part of the Stop the Violence movement, the A.C.T. initiative calls for the community to Accept responsibility for the current state of crime in the city, to Collaborate with the community and come up with solutions, and to Take action.
“Success will require you, me, and others to accept the responsibility for reducing crime in Abilene,” said Mayor Williams. “You can’t, they can’t, and I can’t … but we can.”The A.C.T meeting is a community wide collaboration with support from many community entities. Guest speakers include: Chief Stan Standridge of the Abilene Police Department, Doug Peters of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Duke from the Abilene Independent School District, Pastor Chad Mitchell of Mission Abilene and Sari David
