City of Abilene Announces City Secretary
The City of Abilene is pleased to announce that Rosa Rios has been named the new City Secretary as of the November 16th City Council meeting.
Mayor Anthony Williams is very confident in the appointment of Rios. “Rosa has an outstanding career of service and will be an asset to our team,” he said. “We are blessed to have her and I am excited to see the knowledge and experience she brings to the table.”
Rios comes to Abilene from the City of Dallas where she previously served as Assistant City Secretary before her appointment to City Secretary in 2012. Rios’ career in municipal government spans many years having served the City of Garland, the City of Cockrell Hill, the City of Seagoville and the City of Dallas.
“Professionally, I am very excited to join the team that has been leading Abilene and I look forward to doing my part to continue to make Abilene a progressive city,” said Rios. “It’s always been a personal goal of mine to live in a close knit community where its citizen’s truly care about one another and I’ve finally found that.”
Rios’ appointment comes after former City Secretary Danette Dunlap’s retirement in September of this year.
Rios will begin serving as City Secretary effective Monday, November 27, 2017.
