Most City Offices Closed in Observance of Christmas Holiday
Most City of Abilene offices and community service centers will be closed on Friday, December 22 and Monday, December 25, 2017 in observance of the Christmas holiday with the exception of those providing life safety services such as fire and police protection.
The Abilene Animal Shelter will be closed Friday through Monday, Dec. 22 - 25. Citizens with an Animal Control emergency may call the Abilene Police Department at 673-8331 and an Animal Services Officer will be available to respond. The animal shelter will open again on Tuesday, December 26 and resume its regular business hours from 10:30 AM to 6PM.
The Solid Waste Services Division offices will be closed Friday through Monday, Dec. 22 - 25. There will be residential and commercial pick up on Friday, December 22. There will be no bulk and brush collection on December 22 or 25. The Environmental Recycling Center, the Abilene Brush Center and the Citizens Convenience Center will also be closed Friday through Monday but will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, December 26. Solid Waste Services will resume all normal operations Tuesday, December 26.
CityLink Transit will cease operations at 6:00 PM Saturday, Dec. 23. CityLink Transit will be closed Monday, Dec. 25. Regularly scheduled services will resume Tuesday, Dec. 26 at 6:00 AM.
Municipal Court will also be closed Friday and Monday, December 22 & 25. All citations due on that day will be due on Tuesday, December, 26 with no penalty. To make payments any time online, visit the Municipal Court page on the City’s website.
The South branch of the Abilene Public Library, located in the Mall of Abilene, will be open on Friday and Saturday, closed on Sunday and Monday, and resume regular hours on Tuesday, December 26. The Main and Mockingbird branches of the Abilene Public Library locations will be open Friday, Dec. 22, closed Saturday - Monday and will resume regular hours on Tuesday, December 26.
The Abilene Zoo will be closed on Christmas Day, December 25, and will resume regular hours on Tuesday, December 26, from 9 AM to 5 PM, with last admission being at 4 PM.
City facilities that will also be closed on Friday and Monday, Dec. 22 & 25 include: City Hall, Health Division, Abilene Convention Center Office, the Development Corporation of Abilene, the Airport Administration Office and City Recreation and Senior Citizen centers.
The Water Services Center, 701 E. Hwy. 80, will be closed Friday and Monday, Dec. 22 & 26. For water emergencies, sewer problems and reports of water conservation ordinance violations, citizens may call the Water Services Center’s emergency hotline at 325-676-6000 seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
