Upcoming October Recreation Events
Registration is being accepted now through November 17, for the Youth Basketball All-Stars League. The league is open to boys and girls ages 6 and 7. The entry fee is $65 per person. The fee includes a team uniform. Registration ends on Sunday, November 17. Registration may be completed online at www.abilenetx.gov/signup/
The Big Country Haunted Half Marathon will be held on Saturday, October 13. The 13.1 mile race will begin at 7 a.m. and will begin at the Elmdale Baptist Church, 233 Elmdale Rd. Prizes will be awarded for teams and individuals in different age divisions. Runners are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. Registration is $35 for individual or $40 for a team. Splash Pads Closing
The City of Abilene Splash Pads are closing for the season on Monday, October 16 and will re-open in April 2019.
The annual Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 27 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. This event is free to the public and will be held at Daniels Recreation Center, located at 541 North 8th. The Fall Festival is a fun and safe alternative to trick-or-treating that will feature carnival games, cake walk, costume contest, haunted house, and more. For more information contact G.V.
