City of Abilene Monitoring Rainfall & Water Conditions

Post Date:10/18/2018 8:12 AM

The City of Abilene is actively monitoring our current weather and rainfall conditions, along with water levels across our region.

Emergency Management Coordinator Jim Bryan and his team have spent the afternoon surveying area creeks and lakes, and is in communication with the San Angelo National Weather Service about the rainfall forecasted over the next twenty-four to forty-eight
hour period.

At this point in time, the City of Abilene would like to encourage citizens to also be mindful of our local weather forecasts as conditions are right for a high water event.

This is also a good time for citizens to make sure they are signed up for CodeRED, the City’s severe weather alert management system.
Citizens can sign up for CodeRED by visiting the City’s website at www.abilenetx.gov, and clicking on the “How Do I” tab at the upper right hand side of the page. For a direct link, click here. You can also sign up for CodeRED by calling 211.

Citizens are also encouraged to avoid any high water areas, intersections, or underpasses while traveling across the city.
