[Cancelled] Clean Up Kirby Lake with Keep Abilene Beautiful
UPDATE: Kirby Lake Clean-up on April 13th is cancelled. We regret that we have to cancel the event, but current weather forecasts predict thunderstorms and possible severe weather through most of tomorrow. We do not want to encourage people to come out in possible unsafe conditions
Join Keep Abilene Beautiful (KAB), Friends of Lake Kirby Nature Park, and City of Abilene Stormwater Services in cleaning up the litter and illegal dumping at Kirby Lake on Saturday, April 13th, from 1 to 4 p.m. Volunteers can meet at 5650 Maple Street; just follow the signage as you enter the park and approach the pavilion.
Volunteers will walk the shoreline and roads picking up litter around Kirby Lake. Trash bags, rubber gloves and grabbers will be provided. Please wear closed toed shoes and work gloves. Rakes and shovels are handy to have if you want to bring them. This cleanup aligns with exciting new development at Lake Kirby Park, including a new hike and bike trail.
All volunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult and have a waiver signed by their parent or legal guardian. For additional information, please call 325-734-3301.
Since 1985, KAB’s mission is to educate and engage the citizens of Abilene to take responsibility for improving their community environment.
