Citywide call for volunteers and available support resources following Abilene tornado

Post Date:05/20/2019 8:37 AM

The United Way and Big Country VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) would like to invite individuals wanting to help serve in the Abilene tornado recovery efforts to join them Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Pioneer Drive Baptist Church gym (701 South Pioneer Drive) at 9:00 a.m.

These organizations are looking for volunteers who can assist in two areas of work; individuals who would like to meet with storm victims one-on-one to conduct needs assessments and share next action steps, and individuals who can continue the hands-on clean up relief efforts.

Storm victims in need of any kind of assistance are reminded to simply dial the number 2-1-1, or visit the website www.acallforhelp.info.

Individuals wanting to donate and support the tornado recovery efforts can do so through the Community Foundation of Abilene by visiting www.cfabilene.org, or United Way Abilene at www.unitedwayabilene.org.
