Mr. Michael Warrix was Peachtree City’s director of planning and development. He has 30 years of experience in public sector planning agencies and private sector civil and environmental engineering firms. He went to Peachtree City, Georgia from Brownsville, Texas, where he served the community’s 200,000 residents as director of planning and zoning.
Warrix has also served as planning and community development director for MSE of Kentucky, a municipal engineering, architecture and planning firm based in Lexington, and as vice president of planning and community development with Keck & Wood, Inc., a civil environmental engineering firm in Duluth, Ga.
Warrix’s public sector experience includes working as an assistant planner for Greenville, S.C.; community development planner in Berea, Ky.; Effingham County coordinator for the Coastal Area Planning & Development Commission; and staff planner with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. He holds a bachelor’s degree in geography with a specialization in urban and regional planning from the University of Kentucky.
Warrix joined the City of Abilene as Director of Planning & Development Services on October 15, 2018.
