Maker Kits allow you to learn a new hobby/skill in the comfort of your home. A total of 10 kits will make up the initial collection and each kit focuses on a different craft skill.

Located in the basement of the Main Library, each kit checks out for 3-weeks (no renewals). Once checked out, take the kit home, unpack the tote bag, and begin learning your new craft/hobby.

CROSS-STITCH MAKER KIT

CONTENTS INCLUDE: 1 tote bag, 1 book, 1 binder, 5 floss bobbins, 1 thimble, 1 pair of cutters, 1 stitch ripper, 6 needles, 2 needle threaders, 5 cross-stitch hoops

ABOUT THIS KIT: Cross-stitch is a form of sewing and a form of counted-thread embroidery utilizing an X-shaped stitch that are laid in tiled, raster-like patterns that are used to form a picture.  As one of the oldest forms of embroidery, it has become increasingly popular in recent years.  A popular hobby for youth and adults, this guide will help you learn this stitching skill.

STAMPING MAKER KIT
Carve Stamp Play
CONTENTS INCLUDE: 1 tote bag, 1 book, 1 binder, 1 zip binder with 12 carving tools, 1 sharpening knife

ABOUT THIS KIT: Take a journey into printing with custom-carved stamps.  In this complete stamp-carving workshop, you'll have all the tools you need in order to create stamps that you can use for a variety of purposes and crafting projects. These can also be used on a number of surfaces too.

CONTENTS INCLUDE: 1 tote bag, 1 book, 5 floss bobbins, 1 thimble, 1 pair of cutters, 1 stitch ripper, 6 needles, 2 needle threaders, 5 embroidery hoops

ABOUT THIS KIT: Embroidery is the craft of decorating fabric or other materials using a needle to apply thread or yarn. Some of the basic techniques, or stitches, include the chain stitch, buttonhole, or blanket stitch, running stitch, satin stitch, and cross stitch.  All form the fundamental techniques in embroidery today.

ROUND LOOM KNITTING MAKER KIT
Round Loom Knitting
CONTENTS INCLUDE: 1 tote bag, 1 book, 1 binder, 1 hook, 1 yarn needle, 4 round looms (11.5 inch, 9.5 inch, 7.5 inch, and 5.5 inch)

ABOUT THIS KIT: Knitting is a method by which yarn is manipulated to create a textile or fabric, often used in many types of garments.  This is done through the creation of multiple loops or yarn called stitches.  In Round Loom Knitting, you'll use a round loom with pegs, evenly spaced, where you knit onto. These can be used for making hats, socks, scarves, etc.

CROCHET MAKER KIT
Complete Crochet Course
CONTENTS INCLUDE: 1 tote bag, 1 book, 1 binder, 9 crochet hooks, 9 yarn needles, 10 plastic clips

ABOUT THIS KIT: Crochet is the process of creating fabric by interlocking loops of yarn, thread, or strands of other materials using a crochet hook.  Although similar to knitting, in crochet, each stitch is completed before the next one is begun, while knitting keeps a large number of stitches open at a time.

LONG LOOM KNITTING MAKER KIT
Long Looms
CONTENTS INCLUDE: 1 tote bag, 1 book, 1 binder, 1 hook, 1 yarn needle, 3 long looms (17 inch, 13 inch, and 8.75 inch)

ABOUT THIS KIT: Long Loom Knitting is similar to the process of round loom knitting, but it utilizes a rectangular loom to which the yarn is threaded on in order to create scarves, blankets, towels, and similar items.

ABOUT THIS KIT: Candles have been around since the early Greeks, and in modern times they can be made from so many different products, infused with a myriad of scents, and used for a number of purposes other than honoring the goddess Artemis as the Greeks did.  This kit will teach you how to make your own so you can experiment to find which is your favorite.

ABOUT THIS KIT: Soap making is a fun hobby where you can use only a few simple ingredients to make basic soap, or increase that number to create something even more elaborate. From choosing colors and scents you'll learn a lot when it comes to putting together this personal hygiene item.

ABOUT THIS KIT: Jewelry making is a great project and hobby to get involved in for all ages.  Whether you're making necklaces or bracelets, or even repairing some of your broken jewelry, this kit will help get you started with building your hand coordination for this technique to see what fashionable art you can create to wear.
