Entry Level Police Officer

Phase One


Complete the application, supplemental questions, and Personal History Statement. Download the PHS so you can type in your answers.


Phase Two


 
Take the Civil Service Entrance Examination on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at the Convention Center North Conference Center. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. You must arrive no later than 8:30 a.m.  and bring with you either your Driver's License or Passport. For study guide information, click here.

 


If you live more than 100 miles from Abilene, you will move to Phase Three on the afternoon of the civil service examination. Bring athletic attire to change into for the physical agility test (PAT). Be sure to bring the required documents from Phase Three below.



Phase Three


 

Physical Agility Test

You must bring original or certified copies of the following documents:

  • Birth Certificate
  • DD-214 (if applicable)
  • Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
  • Driver's License
  • Social Security Card
  • Completed Personal History Statement (PHS)

Take the physical agility test (PAT) at the Abilene Police Training Academy (Warren Dodson Training Facility). Bring or wear athletic attire for the PAT.

Phase Four


 

Supplemental Questions Part 2

Background Investigation
Your assigned Background Investigator will contact you one your background investigation has begun.




Phase Five


 

Psychological and Polygraph Examination
Police Training will contact you to schedule your pre-psychological and pre-polygraph questionnaire. They will also schedule your Psychological and Polygraph appointments.




Phase Six


 

Oral Interview Board (OIB)
Police Training will contact you to schedule your OIB appointment.




Phase Seven


 

Medical Physicals and Drug Screening
Human Resources will contact you to schedule these appointments.
