Probationary Firefighter

Phase One


 

Complete the application and supplemental questions.



Phase Two


 

Take the Civil Service Entrance Examination on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at the Abilene Convention Center North Conference Center. YOU MUST ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 8:30 a.m. and bring with you the following:

  • Driver's License
  • DD-214 (if applicable)
  • Texas Commission on Fire Protection Structural Firefighter Certification (if applicable)
  • Department of State Health Services Certification (if applicable)

Candidates arriving after 8:30 a.m. will not be admitted to the testing room.

Test scores will be available and posted at the Convention Center test site at 1:30 p.m.

Candidates proceeding to the next phase will attend a Physical Agility Test (PAT) informational meeting at 2:00 p.m. at the Convention Center test site.



Phase Three


 

Physical Agility Test
These PAT tests will be conducted on Friday, December 6th & Saturday, December 7th. 

 Bring your Driver's License.



Phase Four


 

Background Investigation
Your assigned Background Investigator will contact you once your background investigation has begun.



Phase Five


 

Oral Interview Board
A Fire Department representative will contact you to schedule your OIB appointment.



Phase Six


 

Conditional Job Offer
You will be contacted by HR if you are recommended to receive a Conditional Job Offer.                                

Your Conditional Job Offer is contingent upon successful completion of the requirements listed in Phase Seven.



Phase Seven


 

Medical Physicals, Psychological & Drug Screening
Human Resources will contact you to schedule these appointments.
