The City of Abilene proudly presents Swim Lessons at Adventure Cove!

Join Pirate Pete and his band of misfits as we learn how to be safe in, around, and beside the water. Lessons are taught by Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructors and each 30-minute lesson costs only $45 per participant.

The 2022 season will include four separate sessions lasting two weeks Tuesday - Friday.

Session 1: June 7th - 17th

Session 2: June 21st - July 1st

Session 3: July 12th - 22nd

Session 4: July 25th - August 5th

There are three skill levels available:

Preschool - Splish Splash, learning to swim is more than taking a bath! Preschool swim lessons familiarize children ages 3-5 with the aquatic environment and help them acquire basic aquatic skills such as entering the water, arm and leg actions, blowing bubbles, and assisted floating.

Level 1 & 2 - Swimming with friends is fun! Level 1 & 2 swim lessons orient students over the age of 5 to the aquatic environment and help them develop positive attitudes and safe practices around water. They will acquire aquatic skills such as bobbing underwater, retrieving objects, and floating. The instructor will assist in skill development with front glides, floats, and combined arm and leg action.

Level 3 - It’s time to jump in and make waves! Level 3 swim lessons build on previous water knowledge as students begin swimming short distances while focusing on front crawl, elementary backstroke, and breaststroke. Goals include swimming the front crawl more than 5 ft, floating on their back, and changing directions in the water all without assistance. Way to go!

Each session will feature three-time opportunities for each class.

  • Class 1: 8:30 am
  • Class 2: 9:05 am
  • Class 3: 9:40 am
