Earth Day Zoo Run | Saturday, April 17 at 9am
Ready, get set... charge! Abilene's 1st Run that will allow you to run around through Nelson Park AND the Abilene Zoo! It'll take place on Saturday, April 17 at Grover Nelson Park and the Abilene Zoo with the festivities starting at 9:00am. Show us your wild side, dress up in your finest stripes, spots, trees, flowers, trees, or feathers, and let's run for the EARTH!
There will be two separate races: a 1k for those 12 and under and a 5k for those 13 and older. The 1k race is $10 per child and starts at 9:00am, and the 5k race is $25 per runner and starts at 9:30am. Day of registration will be $10 more per racer ($20 for the 1k, $35 for the 5k).
First 100 overall registrations will receive a free t-shirt. Prizes will be awarded for various age divisions and top overall winner.
Medals will be awarded to first in each age category and first overall male and first overall female.
Registration opens Monday, March 8th and you can sign up at www.abilenetx.gov/signup to participate in the wild fun!

Abilene Outdoor Adventures | Saturday, June 5 9am-3pm
Mark your calendar for Saturday, June 5, 2021 for our 5th annual Abilene Outdoor Adventures! The event will take place at Cal Young Park (950 T&P Lane) from 9am-3pm. This free, family-friendly event provides educational and fun activities to encourage families to partake in outdoor recreation, conservation/preservation, and wellness. This takes place on Texas free fishing day, so anyone can come out and fish, even if you don't have a fishing license! There are multiple different activities to participate in, such as fishing, kayak demonstrations, wildlife identification, plant identification, archery, roping, and so much more. Don't miss out on this exciting event that's coming to Abilene!

Mother and Son Dance | Thursday, June 24 at 7pm
Blast off into the stars for a dance that is out of this world! Sons 3-13 and moms and mother figures are welcome to join in for some dancing, food, and more! Show off your moonwalk on the dance floor from 7-9pm, doors open at 6:30pm at the Abilene Convention Center. Tickets are $12 per person, and registration opens Monday, April 19th. You can register online at www.abilenetx.gov/signup or in person by visiting Community Services on 633 Walnut Street. Registration will close Wednesday, June 23 at 5pm, and there will be no ticket sales at the door the day of the dance.
