Steam N Wheels 2021 Abilene Texas

Steam-N-Wheels Bike Race | Saturday, March 20 at 10am

Join us for the 28th annual Steam-N-Wheels Bike Race where riders can choose from three course routes: 11, 28, 48 miles. The race will be taking place on March 20 out at Seabee Park (6525 W Lake Road). The first 100 riders that register will receive a complimentary long sleeve event t-shirt. Packet pickup will be available on March 19th between 8:00am to 5:00pm at Community Services (633 Walnut Street) or the race day beginning at 8:00am. Spring Mayors Hike Abilene Texas

Spring Mayor's Hike | Saturday, March 27 at 9am

Take an adventurous hike with Mayor Anthony Williams for our 2021 Spring Mayor’s Hike! This 3 mile hike along Cedar Creek will take place Saturday, March 27, beginning at 9:00 A.M. This is a FREE, family friendly event that is open to the public, and leashed dogs are welcome to join as well! Due to the terrain of the trail, strollers and bikes are not allowed. The hike will begin in the grassy area on 100 block of E.S. 11th Street, adjacent to the intersection of Maple and South 11th. Participants will travel north along the bank of Cedar Creek to Stevenson Park then return by the same trail. Parking will be available on South 11th street and signage will direct hikers to the designated parking area.
Some recommendations to ensure a fun-filled and safe hike:
Bring water and sunscreen along
Wear comfortable shoes; no flip flops or sandals
Dress for the weather; wear long pants, bring a jacket and a hat

Abilene Outdoor Adventures 2021 Abilene Texas Cal Young Park

Abilene Outdoor Adventures | Saturday, June 5 9am-3pm

Mark your calendar for Saturday, June 5, 2021 for our 5th annual Abilene Outdoor Adventures! The event will take place at Cal Young Park (950 T&P Lane) from 9am-3pm. This free, family-friendly event provides educational and fun activities to encourage families to partake in outdoor recreation, conservation/preservation, and wellness. This takes place on Texas free fishing day, so anyone can come out and fish, even if you don't have a fishing license! There will also be angler education, wildlife identification, roping activities, and much much more!
