Water Utilities

Abilene’s Water Utilities Department is responsible for water and wastewater operations, providing a high quality water supply, treating and distributing potable water, collecting all wastewaters discharged to sanitary sewer systems, and transporting and treating all wastewater prior to discharging it into the environment.

  • Water: Water Production (lakes and raw water delivery), Water Treatment, Water Distribution.
  • Wastewater: Sewage collection, Wastewater Treatment, Reclaimed Water, Indirect Potable Reuse.
  • Environmental Laboratory: Chemical and biological analyses, sampling of lakes, plants and pipes; industrial waste.
  • Customer Service: Billing and collections; Account management; Customer service and Emergency Call Centers.
  • Water Conservation: Conservation of available water supply; protecting the integrity of water supply facilities.
