Water Utilities
The Water Utilities Department is responsible for water and wastewater operations in the City of Abilene, providing a high quality water supply, treating and distributing potable water, collecting all wastewaters discharged to sanitary sewer systems, and transporting and treating all wastewater prior to discharging it into the environment.

Customer Service Center
Customer Service Center is responsible for the municipal utility billing of the Water Utilities Department, and is located at 4595 South 1st Street.

Water Treatment
The City's Water Treatment System consists of three Water Treatment plants located throughout the City of Abilene, having the maximum treatment capacity of 46 million gallons daily and Treated Ground Storage capacity of 23.3 million gallons.

Water is transported from area lakes through underground raw water transmission lines to treatment facilities. Learn more about our water distribution facilities.

Water Distribution
The water distribution system provides economical and compatible facilities that are capable of furnishing sufficient water at suitable pressures. The distribution network is laid out in a continuous looped system to circulate water and maintain constant system pressure.

Quality Control
The Environmental Laboratory performs chemical analyses for process control to assist operators in maintaining optimum performance levels at the water and wastewater treatment plants for the City of Abilene.

Wastewater Treatment
The City of Abilene collects and treats wastewater from users in the incorporated city limits and from the cities of Buffalo Gap, Tuscola, Tye, and Hawley Independent School District.
