Complete the application, supplemental questions, and Personal History Statement (PDF). Download the PHS so you can type in your answers.
Entrance Exam
Take the Civil Service Entrance Examination on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at 9 am at the Convention Center Exhibit Hall. Doors open at 8 am. You must arrive no later than 8:30 am and bring with you either your Driver’s License or Passport.
The examination consists of the following topics/subjects:
- Reading Comprehension
- Mathematics
- Logical Sequence
- Spelling
- Vocabulary
If you live more than 100 miles from Abilene, you will move to Phase Three on the afternoon of the civil service examination. Bring athletic attire to change into for the physical agility test (PAT). Be sure to bring the required documents from Phase Three.
Physical Agility Test (PAT)
You must bring original or certified copies of the following documents:
- Birth Certificate
- Completed Personal History Statement (PHS)
- DD-214 (if applicable)
- Driver's License
- Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
- Social Security Card
Take the PAT (PDF) at the Abilene Police Training Academy (Warren Dodson Training Facility). Bring or wear athletic attire for the PAT.

Supplemental Questions Part 2
Psychological & Polygraph Examination
Police Training will contact you to schedule your pre-psychological and pre-polygraph questionnaire. They will also schedule your Psychological and Polygraph appointments.
Background Investigation
Your assigned Background Investigator will contact you one your background investigation has begun.
Oral Interview Board (OIB)
Police Training will contact you to schedule your OIB appointment.
Medical Physicals & Drug Screening
Human Resources will contact you to schedule these appointments.
