Proposition 9: Airport

Abilene Bond Program Completion StampThe 2015 bond program dedicated $4.2 million to Proposition 9 for airport improvements. By approving this measure, Abilene Regional Airport will received an additional $38 million in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) airport improvement grants, funding the projects listed below.

Northwest Airport Ramp Rehabilitation

A ramp rehabilitation project on the northwest side of the airport was expected to begin in 2020 or 2021, using Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant funds carried over from 2018-20. This project has been postponed.

Additionally, 2015 bond funds were used along with FAA grant funds for these projects:

  • Construction of new Airport Fire Station (Completed September 23, 2022)
  • Replacement of two passenger boarding bridges (October 2022 Completion)
  • First phase of the airport's Terminal Modernization Program (estimated summer 2022 construction start)
