Learn to Use the Hoopla Digital Streaming Collection
Hoopla is a digital media service that offers tons of titles, which may include audiobooks, movies, ebooks, television shows, music albums, and comics depending on your library’s subscription. This service is free for all valid Abilene Public Library cardholders and each card is limited to eight (8) checkouts per month.
Steps for Using Hoopla Digital
STEP 1: On a PC, go to www.hoopladigital.com to visit Hoopla’s main platform. If on a mobile device, visit the app store for your device and download the Hoopla Digital app. This will be the primary way you enter the service.
If you already have an account, enter your email address and password, and click the LOG IN! button. If you don’t have an account, click the Get Started button in the center of the screen.
STEP 2: Follow the next few prompts to enter your email address, create a password, locate your participating library, and then enter your 13-digit library card number and PIN. This is all used to not only create a personal account on Hoopla, but to also verify you are an Abilene Public Library patron.
STEP 3: You can now use Hoopla. You will start on the home page. You may choose to use the search bar to look for something specific, or use the Browse feature to help guide you to what you’re looking for.
STEP 4: Once you’ve performed a search, you’ll receive a list of results. You can then filter them more by choosing to look at Recommended, Featured, Popular, or Categories listings.
STEP 5: When you have found a title that interests you, click on the cover to get more information about the item, including a synopsis and titles similar to the one selected. If it’s the title you want, click the Borrow button to checkout the title.
STEP 6: To see what you’ve got checked out, or to begin watching, reading, listening to your material, choose the "My Hoopla" option at the top of the screen and then choose the selection for "Currently Borrowed" to see all the materials you’ve checked out.
STEP 7: Choose a title you want to access and enjoy. You may access the item as many times as you’d like throughout the duration of the loan period.
