On August 7th , 2021 at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Abilene Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 500 block of Neas Road. Crews arrived to find a single family residence with smoke showing from the rear of the structure. Crews moved to the rear of the structure and found a wood porch fully involved. Fire crews made a quick attack of the flames and put the fire out. The residence was checked for any fire extension into the house and none was found. The residents were not home at the time of the fire start, but returned to find the fire on the porch. There were no injuries at the scene, and the cause remains under investigation. The estimated value of damage is $2000.
