A local college student is deceased after a fatal crash at the intersection of Southwest and Brookhollow Dr. The crash occurred at 12:03 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. Next of kin notification was made. Chandler Sikes (18 yoa), of Powderly, TX, was pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

The crash involved four vehicles. A gold Honda Civic driven by 19-year-old Sebastian Ochoa of El Paso, TX, with passenger, Chandler Sikes, was traveling west on the inside lane of Southwest Dr. It hit the back of a black Jeep Grand Cherokee also traveling in the same direction. The Honda failed to control speed and collided with the Jeep. This caused both vehicles, to veer into oncoming traffic. A Chevy Silverado, headed in the opposite direction struck the Honda head-on. A grey Ford F150 traveling east rear-ended the Chevy. Three of the four drivers received minor injuries. Ochoa received lacerations to the face and was transported to a local hospital. Neither he nor Sikes was wearing seatbelts. They were both students attending a local university.
