ABILENE, TX – An Abilene woman has passed away from injuries sustained after she was hit by a vehicle. She was walking home attempting to cross Ambler Ave. at the Westmoreland intersection when she was hit. Dispatch received a call of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle at 8:02 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.
The woman, identified as 75-year-old Yeah-Sook Kim, of Abilene, was transported to a local hospital and treated for her injuries. She succumbed to her injuries at the hospital on Wednesday evening, September 22. Her family was with her at the time of her death.
Initial reports indicate Kim was crossing Ambler Ave. walking south on an unmarked crosswalk. A white 2014 Chevy Silverado struck the woman while turning from Westmoreland onto Ambler Ave.
No citations have been issued at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
The Abilene Police Department wishes to extend condolences to the Kim family, and the other families who have suffered the loss of their loved ones.
