If you’re looking for a great community event to attend with your family In October, look for attending the city’s National Night Out event, brought to you by the Abilene Police Department and running on Tuesday, October 5 from 5:30PM to 8:00PM. Where will the festivities be hosted? At the police department of course, located at 4565 S. 1st St in what many of us used to know as the old K-Mart building.
This national campaign is designed to strengthen ties within the community and the police department to make our neighborhoods safer. Come out to meet local law enforcement and get to see what they do in order to foster positive interactions between officers and neighbors under positive circumstances.
Hosted in states all across the country, we celebrate this event on the first Tuesdays in October in Texas, and the community will be treated to a host of activities including free hot dogs and drinks for everyone. Your Abilene Public Library will be present too and we’ll be providing face painting for kids, or temporary tattoos, handing out candy, and providing information on library services for families to take advantage of.
We invite everyone to come out and see us, as well as participate in the National Night Out festivities, again running on Tuesday, October 5 from 5:30PM to 8:00PM. Let’s support our local law enforcement, learn more about how they keep us safe, and help build stronger communities in the process.
