Mark your calendars and attend the Business Mercado (Market), happening at the Abilene Convention Center (1100 N. 6th St.) on Saturday, October 9 from 9AM to 3PM. This annual event showcases businesses and services in the community, with the aim of building the bridge with the Hispanic consumer.
Hosted during the middle of Hispanic Heritage Month, this popular activity is hosted by the Abilene Hispanic Business Council and offers a full day of family-friendly activities including mariachis, ballet folkorico, as well as access to local businesses and the resources they have to offer.
Your Abilene Public Library will host a booth and we want you to stop by to learn more about what your library has to offer such as services for adults, technology available, language resources, and more. It’s our pleasure to be a part of the Business Mercado because what’s a public library if it doesn’t connect with the community whenever it can?
But that’s not all that will be offered. Being hosted outside the convention center, in the Adamson-Spalding Storybook Garden, there will be a great event for kids to participate in. Teaming with Abilene Christian University’s Alpha Kai Omega, a childrens’ storytime will be hosted throughout the morning from 9AM to 11AM, with parents being supplied with coffee and pastries. It’ll be a great place to stop while enjoying all the functions of the Business Mercado.
So mark your calendars for October 9 and join your library at the annual Business Mercado, with the theme for this year being Siempre Cambiando - Always Changing. If you’re there, be sure to stop by and say hi!
