On 01 November 2021, at approximately 4:08 P.M., the Abilene Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire located in the 300 Block of Fannin Street, Abilene Texas. The first in crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the windows of a single family dwelling. Two canines were inside the house at the time of the fire, one small canine was found deceased the other was rescued by the owner with the assistance of neighbors. The residents were not at home when the fire was discovered. No other injuries were reported. The fire remains under investigation at this time, damage is estimated at $20,000. The Red Cross was notified to help assist the displaced residents.
