Borrowing privileges for Abilene Public Library cardholders had been extended, yet again, thanks to the Dyess Air Force Base Library. With their own collection of titles for lending, they are now allowing public library cardholders to have access to items within their collection.
Items housed within the Dyess Library are already searchable through the library's Online Catalog. Whenever you search for a title, look to see what libraries own it and now if it says Dyess AFB, you'll be able to reserve these to have picked up at your preferred public library branch.
Access will be granted to their general circulating collection of books, CDs, DVDs, and games, but will not extend to their reference collection and specialty items.
This was made possible as the Dyess AFB Library is part of the Abilene Library Consortium, along with your public library and the three (3) private university libraries here in Abilene. With this consortium, patrons are provided access to the collections of all these libraries, as well as being able to return materials to any of the libraries of where they were checked out from.
Remember, public library cardholders are able to checkout up to five (5) items from the university libraries, and now you can add Dyess AFB Library to the mix with being able to checkout up to three (3) items.
