[ARCHIVED] Structure Fire: 2400 Block of Buffalo Gap Road

On January 10, 2019 at approximately 9:41 p.m. the Abilene Fire Department responded to a structure fire at an apartment complex located in the 2400 block of Buffalo Gap Road. Fire crews arrived to find light smoke coming from a first floor apartment. A 2nd alarm was immediately called to assist with evacuation and extinguishment. An interior attack was made and the fire was quickly extinguished by fire personnel. Two apartments were affected by the fire and both families were displaced. All occupants were able to escape with no injuries and Red Cross was notified to assist these occupants. Fire investigators determined that the fire was accidental in nature due to a faulty heating unit. The fire damage is estimated to be $5,000.
