[ARCHIVED] Structure Fire: 1500 Block of Mulberry Street

On January 6, 2022, at approximately 11:11 A.M., the Abilene Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire located on the 1500 block of Mulberry Street, Abilene Texas. The residence had been separated into two different living quarters. The arriving crews found smoke showing and made a quick attack. The fire was extinguished and contained to the apartment of origin. No one was at home at the time of the fire in either of the apartments. During the initial fire investigation illegal narcotics were discovered in the unaffected apartment, APD narcotics officers were notified and assumed the investigation. Red Cross was also notified and arrived on scene to assist the 4 displaced individuals of the damaged apartment. The fire was determined to be an accidental electrical fire caused by a space heater. Estimated value of loss is $23,000.
