On January 7, 2022, at approximately 2:30 A.M., the Abilene Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire located on the 1200 block of Burger Street, Abilene Texas. The arriving crews found heavy smoke and flames showing from the rear of the residence. A quick attack was made by the first in unit and quickly extinguished. There were three residents and several canines at home at the time of the fire all were able to get out without injury. Investigation revealed that a warming lamp that was used to keep a pet warm ignited the combustibles around it causing the fire to spread to the residence. Red Cross was notified and is assisting the residents with their needs. Estimated value of damage is $40,000.
