Drivers who travel South 27th Street from Barrow to Buffalo Gap Road will want to prepare for possible detours and delays beginning the week of January 10 as a contractor will start work to reconstruct and repave that area of roadway.

The intersections of Barrow Street and South 27th, and Buffalo Gap Road and South 27th, will both be converted to concrete. Crews will first begin work to reconstruct and convert the intersections, and do so in a phased approach that will last approximately two months.

Once the intersections are converted to concrete, the stretch of South 27th Street between them will be repaved with asphalt. Weather permitting, the asphalt repaving should take place towards the end of March.

This project is funded through Abilene's Street Maintenance Fund. If you have any questions or concerns about this project, contact the City of Abilene Public Works department at 325.676.6281.
