ABILENE, TX – On Thursday, January 16, 2020, Abilene Police arrested a 16-year-old juvenile minutes after he is accused of stabbing two Abilene High School students. The altercation took place as the students were waiting for classes to begin on the campus of Abilene High School. The school’s resource officer quickly responded to the altercation, which began at 8:01 a.m. outside of the school’s cafeteria on the north end. The suspect immediately fled the campus. He was then apprehended by police at 8:36 a.m. at an apartment complex in North Abilene. Both victims were taken to Hendrick Hospital for treatment of their stab wounds. The incident stems from a previous altercation between the suspect and at least one of the victims. The juvenile suspect had been suspended from Abilene High School days earlier.
This incident involves juveniles and legally limits the information which can be released. This investigation is ongoing and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation. Police increased security at the school immediately following the incident for the safety of students and faculty.
