On February 9, 2022 at approximately 12:00 a.m., the Abilene Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 100 block of Ruby Street. Crews arrived to find a duplex with smoke and fire showing. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and contain damage to only one side of the duplex. The side of the duplex affected sustained heavy fire and smoke damage. The occupants self-evacuated and sustained no injuries. The fire remains under investigation and the estimated value of damage is $20,000.
