If you’ve ever wondered what it might be like to work a certain type of job before you apply for it, or go to school for it, we’ve got a program for you. Partnering with Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas, the South Branch Library will offer a hands-on workshop that will take you through several careers using virtual reality.
Workforce Solutions acquired VR Oculus headsets to utilize with their career placement program, as well as for job training. Representatives will be on hand on Friday, March 18 from 2:00PM-4:00PM to allow the public to use virtual reality to experience this training in an open house.
Career exploration for guests will last 15-20 minutes and provide tutorials of jobs within five industries including:
- Architecture & Construction
- Manufacturing
- Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics
- Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security
- Hospitality & Tourism
Registration is preferred by visiting www.wfswct.org, but drop-ins will be taken as well on a first-come, first-serve basis. Future opportunities to use this VR equipment at your library will be available at both the Mockingbird Branch and Main Library to offer you even more opportunities to participate.
Don’t miss your chance to use new technology to help you in deciding whether a certain career path is right for you. Reading about a job is one thing, but getting hands-on with what you might be doing in that job through VR will offer you a whole new perspective.
Be sure to join your South Branch Library on Friday, March 18 from 2:00PM-4:00PM to be a part of this free open house session at your library.
