[ARCHIVED] Structure Fire: 1900 Block of North 2nd

Structure Fire - Abilene Fire Department News

On 20 March, 2022, at approximately 7:55 AM Abilene Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire located on the 1900 block of North 2nd Street, Abilene Texas. The arriving crews found a two story single family residence fully involved. A second and then third alarm were quickly called due to the size of the structure, wind conditions and extension into the neighboring houses. The house was not livable and had been occupied by transients. No one was inside the structure at the time of the fire. The original fire house and a second house which was also damaged are both considered total losses. The second house was occupied by four individuals who were able to self-evacuate safely and without injury. A third home suffered moderate damage due to extension from radiant heat. The American Red Cross is helping with the displaced individuals. The fire remains under investigation, estimated value of damage is $140,000.
