On April 10, 2022 at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Abilene Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 1900 block of Victoria Street. Crews arrived on the scene to find an apartment in the back of the property with heavy smoke and fire showing. Crews made a transitional attack and extinguished the fire quickly. The subsequent investigation showed that an overloaded extension cord was the cause of the fire. The occupants were not home at the time of the fire. The Red Cross was notified to assist the residents. The estimated value of damage is $30,000.
