ABILENE, TX – First Responders were called out to a crash in the 3300 block of Highway 277 at 8:57 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020. The crash resulted in the death of the driver one of the vehicles involved in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to the hospital by private auto.
A white 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 71-year-old Cynthia Daniels of Abilene, was traveling north in the southbound lane of Highway 277 in the wrong direction. Two other vehicles traveling southbound had to divert their direction of travel in order to miss the Malibu. A third vehicle, a 2014 Dodge Pickup, collided head-on with the Malibu. The driver of the Dodge, 24-year-old Dakota Parson of Anson, was taken to the hospital by private auto with non-life-threatening injuries. Daniels, the driver of the Malibu, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Abilene Fire Department. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance and pronounced deceased at the hospital.
