ABILENE, TX – UPDATE – An arrest has been made in this investigation. The suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Julion Xavias Arredondo of Abilene.
On Saturday, June 25, at approximately 1:00 p.m., members of the Major Investigations Bureau, assisted by the Surveillance, Apprehension and Tactics Team (SATT), arrested Arredondo at a residence in the 1300 block of Roma Lane. Arredondo will be booked into the Taylor County Jail where he is being charged with First Degree Felony Murder and held on a $250,000 bond. No further investigative updates are expected.
ORIGINAL RELEASE – On Saturday, June 25, at approximately 1:48 a.m., Abilene Police responded to an injured subject call across the street from a bar establishment in the 2400 block of South 7th Street. Police learned that a shooting victim was being transported to the hospital via privately owned vehicle. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Next of kin notification has been made. The victim has been positively identified as 27-year-old David Height III of Abilene.
Detectives with the Major Investigations Bureau are actively investigating this incident as a homicide.
