On Monday, July 18, 2022 at approximately 18:24pm, crews with the Abilene Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 1700 block of Sewell Street. On arrival, crews noted heavy smoke and fire coming from the side of the residence. A quick attack was made on the fire limiting the spread of the fire and containing the fire to the garage area. The estimated loss is $2,500 and the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries reported on the scene. American Red Cross was contacted and responded to the scene to assist the occupant of the home.
