Abilene Police Investigating Early Morning Homicide

Abilene, Texas – A 35-year-old Abilene woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle in the 3100 block of College Street in South Abilene.  Ashley Rapp, died in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 1, 2023, just before 1 a.m.

Investigators believe a domestic disturbance between the victim and the driver of the vehicle, 45-year-old Robert McClure, took place outside their shared residence shortly before the hit-and-run occurred.  Ms. Rapp was taken to the hospital by ambulance, where she succumbed to her injuries.  Next of kin notification has been made.

Mr. McClure fled the scene and was later taken into custody for First Degree Felony Murder.  He is being held on a $200,000 bond.
