On February 4, 2023 at approximately 7:00 a.m., the Abilene Fire Department responded to a structure fire call in the 2800 block of Hickory Street. Crews arrived to find the residence fully involved in fire. A quick attack was made to stop the spread of fire to other residences. The occupants were not home at the time of the fire and the Red Cross has been called to help them. An investigation found the fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring. The estimated amount of damages is $36,000 and the fire is determined to be accidental.
