Abilene, Texas – On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 10:50 a.m., Abilene Police responded to the call of an injured subject at a home located in the 3100 blk. of South 6th Street. Police arrived to find two people, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
A female, identified as 54-year-old Michelle McClure, was transported to the hospital with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. She was later pronounced deceased. A second person, a juvenile male, was also discovered in the home at the time of the incident with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Both were residents of the home.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the female shot the juvenile before turning the weapon on herself.
The investigation is ongoing. The next of kin notification has been made.
Information pertaining to the juvenile victim in this incident is protected under the Family Code Sec. 58.008.Subchapter(b) Except as provided by Subsection (c), law enforcement records concerning a child and information concerning a child that are stored by electronic means or otherwise and from which a record could be generated may not be disclosed to the public and shall be:
(1) if maintained on paper or microfilm, kept separate from adult records;
(2) if maintained electronically in the same computer system as adult records, accessible only under controls that are separate and distinct from the controls to access electronic data concerning adults; and
(3) maintained on a local basis only and not sent to a central state or federal depository, except as provided by Subsection (c) or Subchapter B, D, or E.
