The Summer Reading Club at your Abilene Public Library has focused on celebrating the works of author/illustrator Brian Lies. Local youth and families are encouraged to attend a special storytime event on Monday, July 17, from 3:00PM-5:00PM as we welcome in staff from the Abilene Recovery Council to present Lies’ popular book, “Bats at the Beach.”
This children’s event will not only feature readings of this featured book, but there will also be craft activities and some swag to snag as well. The Abilene Recovery Council will be providing each kid that attends with a free bat plushie (while supplies last). If that’s not enough, the first 50 youth to attend the event will also have the chance to get a free copy of “Bats at the Beach.” We’re excited to partner with the Abilene Recovery Council to provide this special storytime event for local families to participate in.
Please Note: The plushie and book featured in the graphic are items we have at the library. Swag to be given away will not be what's shown in the image.
In this book, the bats have found the perfect night to hang out at the beach. So they pack up their buckets, banjoes, and blankets (and their moon-tan lotion) and gather where the foamy sea and soft sand meet. Having spent 14 weeks on the New York Times Bestsellers list, youth will enjoy the great artwork throughout the story and wish they were part of the bats night at the beach.
Mark your calendar and make sure you attend the Bats at the Beach Storytime event at your Main Library on Monday, July 17 form 3:00PM-5:00PM. Be sure to arrive early for your chance to snag some bat swag and stick around to enjoy stories, crafts, and storytime fun. For more information about this event, contact Ellene Cudd at 325-677-2474.
