Youth services staff love to lead programming for youth to get them excited about literature. One unique program brings out fairytale princesses to lead magical storytimes through the Once Upon a Storytime series at your South Branch Library. At each session, a different princess visits to lead a great group of youth in fun stories, songs, learning about royal etiquette, making a craft, and of course, having time to take pictures with our special guest.
We invite families to participate in this series, while also encouraging youth to come dressed in their royal best (although certainly not required). This series is made possible thanks to the library’s partnership with Abilene Fairytales, a local business that sends out princesses to special kids’ events. With a love of connecting with children in programming, these princesses help to add a new layer to the storytime process that children gravitate towards.
The next Once Upon a Storytime session will run on Friday, July 21 at 4:00PM at your South Branch Library. Join us in the children’s area for a great literacy event that runs approximately 45-minutes. Each session will feature a different princess which have included Cinderella, Elsa & Anna, Rapunzel, Belle, Ariel, and Aurora. You never know who may join us, but each time you can expect to be entertained in a highly engaging event with a princess who values books and reading.
