Calling all local artists and enthusiasts, from amateur to professional…if you’re into creating art, you’re invited to be a part of the South Branch Library’s annual Mini Art Exhibit! In honor of National Arts and Humanities Month in October, we’ll be celebrating with a featured display of miniature art created by local talent.
Registration for this art exhibit will begin in September, and all interested parties, regardless of age, are welcome to visit the South Branch Library to sign-up. We have a limited number of supplies, so sign-up will be on a first-come, first-served basis, where you’ll pick up your mini art kit containing a 3x3 inch canvas, miniature paint kit, and a paintbrush. Your task for the month will be to take this kit and create a miniature piece of art, then return it back to your South Branch Library before October 1.
Once all art is received, library staff will then create a display in the foyer of the library so that guests may stop by to view the amazing collection contributed by you, the community. Once your artwork is submitted, it will become property of the library unless you make other arrangements to pick up the piece once the exhibit has ended at the end of October.
Please Note: Although we will be offering mini art kits for you to use to create your mini masterpiece, you do not have to use the mini kit and instead use whatever medium you’d like. However, your mini art must still fit on the 3x3 inch canvas to be included in the display.
For more information regarding the registration process, or the Mini Art Exhibit, contact librarian Marnie Boyers at 325-698-7565 or via email at marnie.boyers@abilenetx.gov. Remember, registration to participate in the exhibit begins in September, and will continue until all supplies have been picked up. Register in person at the South Branch Library and let your creative side come to life on a mini canvas. We can’t wait to see what you’ll create this year!
