Residents driving through the south side of Abilene will want to be aware of traffic flow changes along South 27th Street. Lanes have been rerouted as crews begin work to reconstruct the roadway from Barrow Street to Danville Drive.
East and westbound traffic along South 27th between Barrow and Danville has been consolidated into one lane in each direction, with the east and west bound lanes currently moving on the north side of the roadway.
Drivers will need to merge into one lane as they head east approaching the South 27th and Danville intersection, and as they head west approaching the South 27th and Barrow intersection.
The one-way lanes will shift to the south side of the roadway halfway through this project.
The reconstruction of South 27th Street is funded through the Development Corporation of Abilene's reimbursement portion of the 2023 Street Maintenance Fund projects.
Bontke Brothers is the contractor on the South 27th reconstruction project.
