Arm your children with the early skills needed to be successful when starting school with a great service at your Abilene Public Library. All library cardholders have access to our great lineup of databases, and one of our newest is perfect for youth ages 3-6 called Miss Humblebee’s Academy. Available 24/7, parents will be able to use this informative platform to help teach their children some valuable skills before they enter kindergarten, to give your children that extra boost for being successful.
To help you along the way, your library will host an introductory workshop on this database for local parents, including those who wish to homeschool, that will provide you with a demonstration and all the information you need to get started. Open free to all interested parents, this free workshop will be hosted at the Main Library on Wednesday, October 25 at 10:00AM.
Miss Humblebee’s Academy is an award-winning, online and offline curriculum platform that prepares children for kindergarten proficiency. This is achieved through learning important lessons from Miss Humblebee and her students Oly, Fiby, Mic, Raffi, and Jia. All will be on hand to guiding your children for learning key skills required by state and national standard including language and literacy skills, math skills, science and social studies skills, art and music skills, social and emotional learning skills, and finally a bee fit series to promote the importance of moving as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Along with learning through online lessons, Miss Humblebee also stresses the importance of learning through real-world experiences too. In her academy, this means getting hands on with special projects such as designing your own pom pom shirts or creating a DIY rain cloud in a jar, all designed to help strengthen the online curriculum your children will be learning along the way.
Don’t take our word for it. Attend the library’s free demo session and see how you can register to engage your children in these award-winning lessons on Wednesday, October 25 at 10:00AM. You’ll be glad you did. Available at home, or on-the-go with your tablet, become a part of this online academy that will provide you with lessons and assessments, as well as track your child’s progress through performance reports.
