In 1997, the world was introduced to Harry Potter, a character that would change the world by captivating not only young readers, but crossing over to teens and adults. Spawning seven books that have sold more than 600 million copies, and eight films that have grossed more than $25 billion, plus a TV series adaptation on the way, it’s a series that fans still love to this day.
Local teens and adults are invited to join our Harry Potter Wizarding Celebrations running Thursday nights from 6:00PM to 8:30PM at your Main Library through December 21. Guests will join library staff in a host of fun activities consisting of watching the films, participating in a special craft activity each session, playing games to test your Harry Potter knowledge, and more. If you claim to be a fan of Harry Potter, your library will be the place to be starting Thursday, November 30.
Maybe we can even dish on what we can expect when Max adapts it for their streaming service in the future, taking a whole season to focus on each book in the series. Will they truly be faithful to the books? Is it too soon for an adaptation even though the film franchise ended in 2011? Can you really see Harry, Hermione, and Ron played by anyone else other than Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint?
Mark your calendars and be sure to join us for our Harry Potter Wizarding Celebrations, again, running every Thursday evening from 6:00PM to 8:30PM at your Main Library. As always, all of our activities are offered free of charge, there’s no need to register, and feel free to come dressed in your Harry Potter attire too. You know you’ll certainly want to represent what house you belong too…even you Slytherins out there.
