On July 04, 2020, at approximately 7:30 a.m., the Abilene Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 1400 block of Griggs Street. Fire crews arrived to find a single family residence with nothing showing. Crews investigated and found smoke in the house. Crews were able to locate the cause of the smoke at the heating unit and stop its production. Damage to the building was confined to the heating system. The occupants were able to get out of the structure and there were no reported injuries. The damage was confined to the heating unit and the estimated loss was $5000.00. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
On July 04, 2020, at approximately 11:15 a.m., the Abilene Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 2600 block of Nonesuch Street. Fire crews arrived to find an apartment complex with nothing showing. Crews investigated and found a board smoking at the top of a stairwell. Crews were able to use a water can to put out the fire. Damage to the building was confined to the board. No occupants were in danger and there were no reported injuries. The estimated loss was $100.00. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Fire crews arrived to find a trailer on fire in the side yard of the residence. Crews were able to quickly put the fire out. Damage was confined to the contents of the trailer and a car parked nearby. No occupants were in danger and there were no reported injuries. The estimated loss was $3,000.00. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
