Detectives with the Abilene Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division are investigating a homicide that occurred on Interstate 20 on the evening of Monday, September 21, 2020.
A call of a crash came into Dispatch just after 11 p.m. at mile marker 280. Officers arrived and found a male in a vehicle deceased. The male, identified as 26-year-old Steven Pharris of Abilene, was driving a 2004 maroon or red Chevy Silverado extended cab pickup. It appears he was headed east on Interstate 20. The truck crossed the median and ended up facing the opposite direction in the westbound lane of I-20. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
