[ARCHIVED] Structure Fire: 4600 Block of Maple Street

On January 21 2021, The Abilene Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at the 4600 block of Maple Street. The first crew arrived to find smoke coming from a detached apartment. Crews made entry and extinguished the remaining fire located between the wall spaces. The apartment had working smoke detectors. This was a positive factor in waking and alerting the resident of the fire, allowing him to escape without injury. The fire was determined to be accidental caused by a failure in the electrical system due to an overloaded electrical outlet. Red cross was notified to assist the resident and estimated value of damage was $5000.
